behind the scenes on my Omo Valley photography tour to the Suri Tribe, ethiopia!
There are so many highlights and amazing memories and moments from my time with the Suri tribe in Ethiopia. Spending almost a week camping with this amazing Suri village meant we could experience their world at a relaxed pace and enjoy every second. The Suri Tribe are a sub group of the Surma ethnic group with the Mursi Tribe as they share similar traditions and similarities. The Mursi are easier to visit due to their location close to the town of Jinka and therefore attract more tourists.
how do you travel to the Suri Tribe?
The Suri tribe are one of the least visited tribes in the Omo Valley in South West Ethiopia due to their remote location and various other challenges. They live near the border of South Sudan surrounded by majestic mountains. If you are planning on visiting the Suri Tribe as part of an Omo Valley photo tour, make sure you allow enough time for travel (as sometimes certain roads are not passable). You need a good experienced 4x4 driver that knows and understands the area.
There are quicker roads and safer roads when travelling to the Suri Tribe. Having a ground team you can trust is a must when travelling to this remote African tribe in Ethiopia.
